Love Data Week: Going Beyond PUMFs with the ARDC: what does it take to access the rich collection of Canadian microdata held by RDCs?

Presenter(s):
Theresa Kim

You’ll never defeat security measures in place at the Atlantic Research Data Centre (ARDC) on your own, but by following the rigorous Research Data Centre (RDC) application process armed with data syntax skills and the right research project, you’ll be welcomed right in to analyze Statistics Canada microdata. In this presentation, you’ll learn about applying for RDC access and about some of the most popular datasets held by the ARDC such as the Canadian Community Health Survey (CCHS), the CCHS linkage with the Discharge Abstract Database, the National Ambulatory Care Reporting System, the Canadian Vital Statistics Death Database, and other datasets.

About your presenter: Theresa Kim is the analyst at the Atlantic Research Data Centre. She completed her PhD in epidemiology and psychology, and post-doctoral fellowships at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, and the IWK Health in Halifax.
