Publishers, Funders, and Data Storage
Funders and publishers are increasingly requiring that data be available to support transparent and reproducible research and complying with these requirements has the additional benefit of increasing the impact of your research. Common issues for research data storage include accessibility requirements, required or optional open licensing, and delayed open publishing (embargoes). This session will also provide an overview of common publisher and funder requirements for data storage, and how to meet them. We will also look at the tools available to store data - even sensitive data - in a manner that is consistent with publisher, funder, and ethical requirements. Among the tools we will discuss are DalSpace, Dataverse, and discipline-specific repositories.
By the end of this session, participants will:
- Understand common publisher and funder requirements for open data storage
- Be able to identify the strengths and limitations of different research data storage platforms
- Find the best research data storage platform for you, your research team, or your students
