Get the background you need… to work with Canadian data and statistics

Our national agency for collecting data is Statistics Canada. They are undergoing a modernization process making more data available and accessible to the public. To ensure privacy, they collect more data than they release. This session will explore the StatCan website and highlight connections to other sources of data.

Concepts: census geography; microdata versus aggregate data; continuum of access; finding relevant statistics; understanding variables, footnotes and the data dictionary.

Data: Data tables from Statistics Canada (formerly CANSIM)
Tools: SDA @ CHASS

Exercises and Teams Link will be distributed to registered attendees on Monday, Feb. 28th.
