Copyright Quickchat: Public Domain

Presenter(s):
Jaclyn Chambers Page, Scott MacPherson

January 1st used to mean a new group of works would enter the public domain in Canada, but as of December 30, 2022, a twenty-year freeze on new entrants to Canada's Public Domain began when the term of copyright changed from the author's life + 50 years to the author’s life + 70 years. What does this mean for your research and education activities?  Join the Copyright Office for a quick overview of what you need to know.

Please note: copyright information shared in these sessions is not intended as legal advice and is provided as guidance for the use of works for educational and research purposes at Dalhousie University.
