Brightspace Training - Communication & Groups

Presenter(s):
Michelle McDonald, Carlye Stein

The Brightspace Learning Environment provides a number of communication options. The three basic ones included in Brightspace are email, pager and discussions. You can now create a Teams meeting in your Brightspace course by adding the widget to your homepage then creating an announcement with the meeting details. In this workshop you will work with each of these tools to learn how to communicate with your students both inside and outside your course space.  This session will introduce the groups tool in Brightspace. Topics covered will include setting up randomized group sets, creating manual groups and assigning students to them, and creating group signup sheets so that students can self-enrol. You will also learn about the different ways that groups can be used throughout the learning environment after they have been created, such as group discussions, group assignments, and group release conditions. This session will also introduce, at a basic level, the intelligent agent tool as well as the Class progress tool.
