Indigenous Community Room (ICR) & Multi-Cultural Room Capacity 24

Indigenous Community Room

Capacity: 12

The Indigenous Community Room is the Atlantic Canadian Hub of the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation (NCTR). It is primarily reserved for the use of our Indigenous community as well as internal and external university researchers consulting the records of the NCTR.

Requests for booking of this space will be accepted for small events that serve to highlight Indigenous knowledge, support Indigenous students, and engage Indigenous communities. It is available to all but the event should have Indigenous content.

Smudging is welcome in this space, with the use of specially installed controls. Continuous open flame (i.e. burning of candles) is not permitted.

  • NCTR Hub workstation
  • 6' Round table
  • Rectangular table
  • Small counter and sink
  • 10x guest chairs
  • Wireless access
  • Items required for smudging (i.e. dried sage, lighter, etc.)

Multi-Cultural Centre B

Capacity: 12

Multicultural Centre B is an unfurnished space which is not intended as a meeting space. It is ideally suited for small group events such as yoga, meditation, religious ceremonies, or Indigenous events.

Large barn doors allow for the Indigenous Community Room and the Multi-Cultural Centre B to be joined or separated. These rooms are currently booked together.

Program Room A (Rm. 219) Capacity 60

The Program Rooms are event rooms designed with flexibility of use in mind. Tables and chairs are all on wheels to allow the room to be quickly and easily rearranged. A collapsible wall can be removed to combine the spaces, and Program Room 218's exterior wall can be removed for large events. Each room has podium, projector, and sound system, and combining the rooms will also combine the A/V equipment into a unified easy-to-use unit.

  • Microphone
  • 12 Rectangular table
  • 24x Chairs

The Program Rooms are reserved for student-centred and/or university-sponsored events during the academic year. External bookings are welcome during the spring and summer months. The Program Rooms may be booked separately or as a combined space.

2019/2020 Fall and Winter Terms: The Program Rooms are reserved for classes during regular business hours. Bookings are therefore limited to evenings and weekends during the 2019/2020 academic year.
