Show yourself some love: Using ORCID to manage data about you

Show yourself some love: Using ORCID to manage data about you

Presenter(s):
Melissa Rothfus & Kate Gaffney

“Your data” is not just the data used in your work. As a researcher, you generate data about your own productivity and achievements. Funders, publishers, employers and more have access to various pieces of these data and an incomplete or inaccurate picture can work against you.

ORCID is a tool that provides researchers with unique personal identifiers (PIDs) and a web based profile to help ensure your data—data about you—are meaningfully linked and under your control. This session will clarify the benefits of using ORCID to track your publications and other professional activities and provide a demonstration of how to set up a profile, import content, and curate a public profile.

About your presenters:

  • Melissa Rothfus, PhD, MLIS is Dalhousie’s Scholarly Communications Librarian based in the W.K. Kellogg Health Sciences Library.
  • Kate Gaffney is an intern at the W.K. Kellogg Health Sciences Library and a second-year student in Dalhousie's Master of Information program.
